A Natural, Non-Surgical Approach to Supporting Hair Density and Follicle Health
Overview
Plasma Hair Restoration, commonly known as PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy, is a non-surgical treatment that uses your body’s own platelets to help support healthier hair growth and improve the appearance of thinning hair. This approach is ideal for individuals experiencing early-stage hair thinning or age-related changes in density who prefer a natural method of stimulating follicle activity. At Prefusion Health, all PRP treatments are performed by licensed medical professionals who personalize your treatment plan based on your scalp condition, hair-loss pattern, and overall goals.
How PRP Works
PRP therapy begins with drawing a small sample of your blood, which is then placed in a centrifuge to separate platelet-rich plasma from other components. This concentrated plasma, rich in growth factors, is injected into targeted scalp areas to help nourish follicles and support healthier hair growth cycles. Because the treatment uses your own biological material, PRP integrates naturally into the scalp without the need for synthetic substances. Most clients complete an initial series of three to four sessions spaced one month apart, followed by periodic maintenance to sustain results. Individual responses vary based on hair-loss severity, genetics, and consistency with the treatment schedule.
Results and Expectations
PRP offers gradual improvement rather than immediate change. Many clients begin noticing subtle enhancements in thickness, texture, or reduced shedding within a few months, as the hair growth cycle evolves. Results vary significantly based on individual biology and the presence of active follicles, and no hair restoration method can guarantee regrowth. Treatment sessions typically take 45 to 60 minutes, and downtime is minimal aside from temporary scalp tenderness or redness. Continued maintenance sessions every four to six months are often recommended to support ongoing results.

What PRP Can and Cannot Address
PRP may support early-stage thinning, help minimize shedding, and improve the appearance of hair density by nourishing weakened follicles. It is not intended to treat scarring alopecia, advanced baldness, dermatologic scalp conditions, or permanently inactive follicles. Individuals with long-standing, significant hair loss may require alternative or complementary treatments.
Who Should Not Receive PRP
PRP may not be suitable for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have low platelet counts, bleeding disorders, or active scalp infections, or those taking medications that may interfere with healing. Clients with certain autoimmune conditions or severe hair-loss patterns may not experience meaningful benefit. Your provider will conduct a detailed medical review to determine whether PRP is appropriate for you.
After-Care Guidelines
After treatment, clients should avoid washing their hair for several hours and avoid hair dyes, chemical treatments, and heat styling for 48 to 72 hours. Strenuous exercise and sweating should be avoided for 24 to 48 hours to minimize irritation. Sun exposure to the scalp should be limited for several days, and normal hair-care routines may resume once cleared by your provider.
