A Safe, Precise Approach to Softening Expression Lines
Overview
Botox and other wrinkle relaxers are neuromodulators that temporarily soften expression lines by reducing targeted muscle activity. These treatments are designed to help smooth the appearance of dynamic wrinkles—lines that form from repeated facial movements such as frowning, squinting, or raising the eyebrows. At Prefusion Health, all injections are performed by licensed medical professionals with advanced training in facial anatomy to ensure natural-looking results that preserve your expressions.
How Botox Works
Neuromodulators work by blocking communication between nerves and specific facial muscles, allowing the muscles to relax. As the muscles soften, the overlying skin appears smoother and fine lines become less noticeable. Common treatment areas include the forehead, frown lines between the brows, crow’s feet around the eyes, and additional areas such as chin dimpling or masseter tension when appropriate. Most clients begin seeing results within several days, with improvements continuing over the first week. Treatments typically last three to four months, though longevity varies based on metabolism, dosage, and muscle activity.
Results and Expectations
Clients can expect a refreshed, softened appearance while maintaining natural facial movement. Botox does not freeze the face when administered with precision; instead, it reduces the intensity of muscle contractions that contribute to wrinkles. Results vary based on muscle strength and individual anatomy, and no specific outcome can be guaranteed. Sessions usually take 15 to 20 minutes and involve minimal downtime.

What Botox Can and Cannot Address
Botox may help soften expression lines, prevent lines from deepening, and create a smoother, refreshed appearance. It does not address volume loss, sagging skin, or deeply etched static wrinkles on its own. Some clients benefit from combining neuromodulators with dermal fillers or skin treatments for comprehensive rejuvenation.
Who Should Not Receive Botox
Botox may not be suitable for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have active infections at the treatment site, have neuromuscular disorders, or have previously experienced adverse reactions to neuromodulators. Your provider will evaluate your medical history to ensure treatment is safe for you.
After-Care Guidelines
Clients should avoid lying down for several hours after treatment, refrain from rubbing or massaging the injected areas, and avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Sun exposure, heat, and facials should be avoided for a short period until cleared by your provider.
